Kate Armstrong gives an account of the difficult and dangerous life of a colonial officer's wife (Kate's mother) in the dying days of the Empire. With extracts from her mother's diaries, memoirs and photographs, the talk will give an idea of some of the author's experiences of travelling and living in difficult and dangerous times.
